The bias cut skirt is my absolute favorite right now. I’ve featured this style of skirt in one of my most recent posts “How to Style a Tiger Print Skirt“. Since then, I’ve bought this style in a beige and a black. I’m obsessed, what can I say.
If you’re not sure what I’m referring to when I say “bias cut,” then let me tell you what’s up. Most fabric is cut on a grain (straight across or up/down). However, a bias cut is cut at a 45-degree angle diagonally. This cut will give you more stretch in the material and drapes more snug on the body. There you go. That’s what a college education in fashion merchandising will get you (wink, wink).
Since this is my favorite style of skirt right now and it’s trending hardcore, I wanted to share a couple of ways to wear this style.
Bias Cut Skirt: Style 1
Since it’s spring but still a little chilly, I want to share a style that was more transitional between the cold and warmer weather. In this look, I’m wearing an off-white turtleneck sweater and some neutral sandals. This outfit works perfectly for spring and summer on those slightly chilly days. This outfit is perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.

Bias Cut Skirt: Style 2
For my second look, I’m sharing a more casual look. This outfit is perfect for the weekend. I’m pairing the skirt with a cropped white basic tank, a denim jacket, and a pair of white mules. You could also trade out the mules for a cute pair of white sneakers. I’m also wearing my favorite hat. Again, like the first style, the denim jacket is perfect for those cold mornings and evenings. However, this look works great without the jacket.

Closing Statement
This type of skirt was popular in the 90s, which is trending at the moment. I’m seeing the bias cut in skirts and dresses, so it’s something that’s worth an investment. There are so many cute options to choose from at every price point. You won’t have to break the bank to get this look.

Hi dear
Great info. Love your looks
I am looking to purchase Vince Slip skirt, which is biased cut and itโs pull in style. My question if I purchase bigger size skirt , can I wear this style more lower on waist with cropped tops. I have hour glass figure, and I donโt want to accentuate hips or behind as well. I want just flowy, something like Chanel 2020 pre fall collection . So I checked sizes. And do you think I should go with large or xl my measurements 36/30/40 and Vince skirt for large is 32/41.5 and XL 34/43 could you please advise thank you kindly Giedre
Hi Giedre,
First, thank you for the compliment. I would advise purchasing both sizes and then returning the option that doesn’t work. The reason that I suggest this is that with fast fashion/read to wear garments, they are generally made quickly, and sizing can be off.
Another suggestion that I would make is to buy a larger size and go to an alterations shop where they can make adjustments to the fit of the skirt. This method does get pricey, but if you’re looking for a specific fit, that would be the way to go. I’m relatively short and have to get the length altered on my pants and skirts so that they fit my body.
I would love to hear how your skirt worked out for you and how you style it. — regards, Rebecca
