Now, we all know there are days where you just don’t give a shit. You either don’t have the energy to get ready or maybe you’re just having an off day. Well, don’t worry babes, I got you covered. And trust me, I’ve been there (most of last December, cough, cough).
I’ve figured out a few ways that you can look a little more put together with minimal effort. For me, this is generally one of my weekend days. I’m usually so exhausted from the week that I need one “don’t give a damn” day. However, I still want to look good (I say flipping my imaginary hair over my shoulder).
5 Ways to Look Put Together
1. Lipstick, Balm, or Gloss (oh my)
There’s nothing like a quick swipe of lipstick (or balm or gloss) that will make you feel and look more put together. You’d be surprised how a bit of pigmentation on your lips will brighten your complexion. Even if it’s a nude or clear color, it will do wonders in making you look like you put in some effort. And it takes less than a minute to apply. Easy Peezy!
2. Accessorize
Add accessories to your outfit. This could be as simple as a pair of hoops or a couple of simple rings on your finger. I find that hoops are the simplest and go with almost everything. My favorites right now are from Urban Outfitters for only $20. I have a pair of silver and gold, and they are always convenient to grab and wear. This also takes less than a minute to put on and run out the door. Cute hair accessories such as barrettes, clips, or headbands will also work and so trendy right now.
3. Nails (or quick gloss)
I always try to have fresh polish (even if it’s a quick home job) on my nails. If you’re in a hurry, go for a neutral or a gloss. It’s not as easy to see mistakes. I will often put one or two coats on and walk out the door 10 minutes later. You will instantly look more put together.
4. Matte Facial Primer
If you’re completely opposed to wearing foundation, add a simple matte primer to your face to give it a soft and even complexion. If I’m feeling extra frisky, I will add mascara and blush. I usually go without full-blown makeup at least one day a week (usually Sunday). Adding primer should take less than a minute, so you might have some extra time for that coffee you so desperately need.
5. No Wrinkles
Now, I’m often guilty of this but before you leave your house make sure you don’t have wrinkles in your clothes. Nothing makes you look more disheveled than your clothes looking like you just rolled out of bed. Hell, even if you did wear them to bed, take the wrinkles out. If you have a dryer, throw them in for a quick 10 minutes, and you should be good to go. If no dryer, opt-in for a steamer (which is so much easier than ironing).
Closing Statement
Keep these points in your hypothetical, yet stylish, back pocket. Bring them out when you’re feeling a bit “meh” or trying to get out the door quickly. Let me know if you have any tips; I’m always looking for more ways to optimize my look with minimal effort.
Also full disclosure, I put in a lot of effort into my look in these pictures. Let me know if you want to see me using these tips. I’m happy to post an image in the comments.
