Black has always been a key color in my wardrobe, as it is and should be in most wardrobes. Black not only has an elegant and simple look but it pairs well with other colors and has a slimming effect. There are so many different black staples that each person should have in their closets, such as an LBD, a pair of classic pumps, a good handbag, and a great pair of boots. The list goes on here, but you get the idea.
A few years ago, I stopped purchasing and wearing the color black. I had a few pieces here and there, but overall I would wear a lot of colorful pieces. For example, instead of buying an LBD I would look for it in a red or a pink. Looking back, I would say this went on for a couple of years. It wasnโt until this winter when I am starting incorporating black back into my wardrobe again, and I have to say I love it. I never thought that I would miss a color (or shade technically) so much.
Traditionally most people think of wearing all black as a nighttime look. However, I find that it can be worn during the daytime as well. For this outfit, I chose a soft sweater, faux leather skirt, a faux suede tote, and over the knee boots (OTK). The sweater is slightly oversized, which emphasizes the day look. The fabric is soft which works well with the faux suede in the boots and the tote. The zipper detail on the skirt also keeps the outfit from being too plain. I top the look off with a leather wrap choker with rhinestone detail. Overall, this look is very comfortable and perfect for a day of shopping in style.
