One thing I love about summer is all of the bright colors. For some reason, during summer all of the fun and bold colors appear, and I love it. I’ve never been a person to shy away from bright colors, so there has always been a pop of color in my wardrobe.
I find that although neutrals and dark tones are essential pieces in my closet, I always like to make sure that I have color as well. Now I know bright colors are not for everyone. Some people like pastels while others stay completely away from color. There are also some who only have bright colors in their wardrobe. My wardrobe is somewhere in the middle of those spectrums.
I’ve always loved bright colors. I lean towards red, blues, purples, and pinks (see my article The Color Pink). However, I’m always venturing out and trying new colors and styles.
In this post, I’m wearing a bright kelly green dress. Now, I do not usually wear green, but I was very attracted to this color when I saw this dress. Depending on the shade, the color green will sometimes wash out my skin. However, this bright green color pairs nicely with my skin.
I’m showing a style that highlights the dress, as that is the main attraction for this look. For a casual daywear style, I’m wearing a denim jacket. This jacket is perfect for transitioning from day to evening in the summer, as the nights tend to be a bit chillier. For the shoes, I have on a neutral espadrille. I’m also wearing a neutral tone macrame backpack. The neutral colors of the accessories are to keep the focus on the bright color of the dress.
In order to get a more dressed up look, I could pair this dress with a gold clutch and strappy heeled sandals. Instead of the denim jacket, I would add a long kimono style robe perhaps in a floral or lace.
Bright colors are and will continue to be in my wardrobe. If they are not in yours and you are interested, maybe start small with a colorful clutch. Or a brightly colored pair of shoes. What are your favorite bright colors?
