It’s time for another cocktail hour, and we are whipping up some Frosé. Yes, that’s right, Frosé. It seems like rosé has been a trending drink over the past couple of years. You see it all over social media feeds. I didn’t get on the rosé bandwagon until this previous year. My favorite wines are red wines, so I thought I would see why everyone has been raving about this drink. So I did what any typical wine lover would do and bought myself a bottle of rosé.
I loved it! It’s the perfect glass of wine on a hot day. To make things even better, I found out about frosé, which is frozen rosé. Genius, right? I thought I would step up my game and make some frosé.
My first attempt at making this delicious frosty beverage was not as good as anticipated. I didn’t look up any recipes on how to make it, so I just froze the wine. However, just frozen rosé is not as delicious as you would think. So after that, I did my research. I looked up several different recipes (via Pinterest of course). I found a few that I like and tried combinations of a few until I found my desired frosé.
So here is how I make frosés. This drink is a drink that you will need to prep and plan for before making. I fill up ice cube trays with rosé. Two trays will take about two bottles of wine. I will freeze the wine over night.
On the day that I’m ready to serve this frosty drink, I will make a simple strawberry syrup by bringing the sugar and water to a boil. Be sure to stir regularly. Once the sugar has dissolved, I will remove the syrup from heat. I add the sliced strawberries into the mix and let it sit. When I feel that the syrup has infused with the strawberries, I removed them. Chill the syrup.
In the blender, I will add the frozen rosé, a quarter of the simple syrup, lemon juice, a half can of the soda water and the ice. I will puree until it gets to the perfect consistency. At this point, I will do a taste test to determine if I need to add more syrup or soda water. I prefer my frosé not to be as sweet. Once the mixture is to my liking, I will serve immediately.
Ingredients (4 drinks):
- 2 bottles of rosé from a pinot noir
- ½ cup of sugar
- ½ cup of water
- 8 oz of sliced strawberries
- 1 tbsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 can of lemon soda water
- 1-2 cups of ice
At your next summer BBQ, try serving some frosé. Or perhaps prepare this fun drink when you are just trying to beat the heat.
