We’re already in February, which means this is when life starts getting back to normal and we start losing our steam on our yearly goals. Already? Yes, depending on your goal and how you’ve been managing them, your intensity might begin to
Something that I’ve tried to do to avoid this is to start some of my goals at different points in the year. For me, 2019 is going to be about saving money and shopping smart. Now, this was a little difficult to do in January because I went on vacation. I’ve yet to learn saving money while on vacation, maybe next year. So I’m starting in February, hence the term “Frugal February.”
Although I plan on being frugal throughout the year, this month I plan on taking a spending detox. Holy Shit, right! Now to accomplish a goal, you have to know what this means. So I’ve broken it down into a few categories.
Clothes
I will shop about 3-5 days out of the week, most of which includes a purchase. That’s a lot of shopping and money spent. I can’t say that I actually wear everything that I buy either. So for this month, I will be spending $0 on new clothes. I will be making use out of the clothes that I currently have in my wardrobe. When February is over, I plan to continue to shop but to be more intentional about it.
Beauty
Since I plan on being more frugal this month, I also plan on doing a beauty detox. So much “detox,” I know. I’ve been wanting to grow back my natural lashes for a while now and thought this is a perfect time. My lashes have had extensions for almost a year straight now, so they are due for a break which will save me about $200 a month. I’m also giving my nails a break from the dips as well. I found that they were getting weak and fragile after each appointment. So it will be a time for growth for my natural lashes and nails.
Food
Now I’ve gotten just plain lazy with food. My work days have been so long and exhausting this past six months that I’ve been eating out or getting food delivered almost every night this week. Now not only is this laziness not cost effective but it doesn’t help my waistline either. My plan for this month is to start food prepping for lunch and making dinners. However, I will still allow myself to splurge on the weekends for a meal or two.
Closing Statement
This little experiment will be difficult (especially the clothing part), but I’m hoping it sets me in the right direction for the upcoming year. Now although I will not be spending money, I will still be continuing to share the latest and greatest with you all. And if your goal this year is to save money, well welcome aboard.
