It’s that time of year for holiday parties, which means you need to find that holiday dress. Wearing holiday dresses is one of my favorite things about this time of year. Not only do you get to dress up, but this could mean either reusing an existing dress or buying a brand new one. Either of those options is exciting.
If you are wearing a dress you already own, there are a few things to consider. The first is have I worn this dress in front of this group before, if yes, try to revamp the look. You can do this by adding a different pair of shoes or accessories. In addition to accessories, adding a faux fur jacket is always a nice touch. If you haven’t worn this dress with this group, feel free to keep it the same. However, I suggest kicking your style up a notch.
If you are searching for something new, well then, it’s time to start that search. I begin my holiday dress shopping in November, but I’m always keeping my eyes open throughout the year.
The first thing to do is have a holiday dress or look in mind when you start shopping. Do you want to wear a festive color such as red or green? Is sexy a look that you want? If this is a work event, you probably want to keep the holiday dress a bit more appropriate. Maybe none of those things matter and you want to stick with a style or texture, such as velvet, satin, vintage, or a-line.
Once you decide on a look/style, then decide on your budget. Also note, you should be aware of the shoes and accessories in your wardrobe, as this will inform your holiday dress budget.
Then the search begins, while you are looking for your holiday dress, it’s helpful to keep note of dresses you like but don’t fall into your category. You will want to bookmark or pin these as your possible options and backup dress. You might not always find the dress you are looking for, but you can see several more you didn’t know you wanted.
To keep things easy, I have selected several holiday dresses to either inspire you or to serve as quick links for dresses to purchase.
