It’s time for holiday entertaining! Yes, this week is when all of the dinners, gatherings, and memories begin. This time of year when everyone is traveling, going out to purchase those perfect holiday outfits and starting to plan their dinner parties.
However, this also means that this is one of the most stressful, especially if you are the one hosting the parties. Being a host or hostess is so rewarding and enjoyable, but there’s a side to holiday entertaining that can be daunting.
I would love to tell you not to stress or that everything will work out, but that’s easier said than done. I’ve come up with a few helpful tips to help with holiday entertaining.
Plan
Be sure to plan your day out. Come up with a game plan because holiday entertaining is all about timing. Most likely your day will start early and end late, so make sure you have some time to rest as well. Just remember, everything will not go as planned, be ready for anything.
Improvise
Whether it’s improvising in food or decor, just know that you can find a solution to anything that comes up. There will be things that you forget or burn; it’s all part of being the “hostess with the mostest.” Know it will not be perfect, but you can find a solution for anything.
Delegate
If there’s anything you get from this article, remember this tip. I know as hostess or host, you will want to run it all. However, you don’t need to do everything. Trust me; some people want to help. If it’s guests bringing dishes and drinks or having them help in the kitchen. Heck, have them set the table. They want to help, so put them to work.
Enjoy the Moment
Yes! Take some time to enjoy yourself. It shouldn’t be just stress and anxiety in the kitchen. Relax with your guests. The best thing you can do is create those special memories with your friends and family.
It’s incredible that there’s so much effort put into these few days over the next few months. The best piece of advice I can give is to have fun and have a happy holiday.
