There are days when I want to keep my look casual. However, there are some days when I want that casual look, but with a bit of glam. This type of outfit is often the most creative and is perfect for experimenting with your style. It’s easier to stick with either casual or dressy, but finding that unique combination can set your look apart from the rest.
For this look, I’m wearing a pair of distressed denim jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch. I’m totally digging the mom jeans right now, and the fit of this brand is perfect. Another one of my favorite casual day pieces is a comfy hoodie. This basic sweatshirt is from H&M and is ideal for the temperature between winter and spring (well at least in Cali).
To help complete the casual yet dressy look that I was going for, I complimented my style with some key pieces. For starters, I’m wearing some extremely fun statement earrings. I found these pom-pom earrings at Zara on sale. This mustard yellow color is on fire right now and pairs perfectly with the blue hoodie. Another way that I’m dressing up this look is by adding nude heels. These Steve Madden pumps are very basic, so they add elegance without overpowering the look. My clutch was also perfect in glamming up this look because it’s not traditionally a daytime piece.
Here are four ways you can dress up your casual style:
1- Swap your sneakers for heels
By replacing your traditional casual shoes such as tennis shoes or flip flops with a pump or a heeled sandal, it will instantly transform your look. If you don’t wear pumps, an espadrille is an acceptable substitute, especially during the upcoming spring and summer months.
2- Add statement jewelry
Statement jewelry adds an element of flair to any outfit. However, when pairing with a casual look, the look is instantly transformed. Decide whether you want it to be a necklace, earrings, or a ring. I would recommend not adding both due to it might be too overpowering. However, try it out and experiment to see how it works with the look you’re trying to achieve.
3- Glam up your jacket
Adding a more dressy coat to a casual look can be fun. My jacket of choice to add glam is usually faux fur (check out my faux fur look), but any bomber or overcoat could work as well.
4- Try a smaller bag
Instead of your usual weekend tote or large handbag, try to keep it small. Fight the urge to carry the big bag to fit all of your things and substitute a cute crossbody or clutch.
You can add one or more of these style tips into your next casual outfit in order to kick it up a notch. How do you glam up your casual outfits? Please leave a comment and let me know. Happy styling!
