Here it is my plan for 2019. Instead of creating goals or resolution, I wanted to come up with a promise to myself and you all for this upcoming year.
If you’ve read my last article New Year’s Resolutions, Why Can’t I Keep Them, then you will know that I’ve struggled with setting goals in the past. So this year, I wanted to do something different.
Now there are several ways to set new years resolutions, some are single words, or you can create a list of goals. For me, I decided this year that I would create a promise as well as a plan for that promise.
Why did I decide to create a promise instead of the goals this year? I’m hoping that with a promise, it’s more of an intimate agreement that I will hold myself to through 2019 and not necessarily goals that I’m trying to achieve. So without further ado, here it is.
The Promise to Myself
I promise to put myself first in my life. Sounds selfish, I know. But if you really think about it, the concept is similar to being in an airplane during an emergency, you put your oxygen mask on first. Basically, take care of yourself so that you can take care of everyone else.
What this means, my work and my relationships are all second to me. If I’m at 100%, then everyone will get the best of me. So if this means blocking my schedule for a day or getting up earlier, then so be it.
The Promise to You
I promise to show up this year. Last year, I started strong but slowly went off and on. I was not consistent with my blog posts or my emails. The only real consistent platform that I was in was Instagram. Even Facebook and Twitter took a back seat.
So this year, expect that there will be a blog post at least twice a week with a third sprinkled here and there depending on the occasion. My post will be planned and written with intention. In addition to my blog post, my monthly email will be started up again.
When it comes to products, I will only be showing products and brands that I use or have tried. My reviews will be 100% honest and will state if I liked the product or not. It seems that lately Instagram (and I’m guilty of this) has been ad after ad, which to me seems a bit ingenuine.
The Plan
So how the hell am I going to do this? Well, I will be holding myself accountable each day (yep, on the daily). I will be checking in with myself and seeing where I’m at emotionally, mentally, and physically. Do I need a break? Do I have too much stress due to work? If yes, I will come up with a plan to recalibrate back to a good state.
I also expect you all to hold me accountable as well. I will most definitely be taking breaks from social media (because that’s healthy), but I will be more consistent with my blog. In order to accomplish this, I will be more diligent with my planning.
I’m excited for 2019 and how I decided to approach what I want this upcoming year. I plan on having checkpoints each quarter, and there might be some modifications to my plan, but hey life is all about trying something and making changes as needed. Happy New Year everyone!
