Do you like self-improvement books? I’m such a fangirl. At one point in my life, I don’t think I would have said that. But guess what?! Being healthy is cool.
Now, these self-improvement (aka self-help) books used to be embarrassing to buy. You see movies like Bridget Jones’ Diary, which portrays a female with low confidence, purchasing books on how to meet men. There was an episode of Sex In the City, where Charlotte secretly buys a self-help book on divorce. Well, that time has come and gone, my friends. Self-improvement books are trending.
Now, I don’t think these books will solve all of your problems, but they can give you the tools and guidance if you’re willing to put in the work. I’m going to repeat “if you’re willing to put in the work.” That is the only way these books can help you with your beautiful life journey. Here’s my list in order starting with my highest recommendation.
Self-Improvement Book List
1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson is, by far my favorite. I listened to this book via Audible twice. This book resonated with me so much. Don’t let that name fool you; it’s not about not giving a fuck, but choosing where you give a fuck.
Another aspect of this book that I loved is that it reminds you that everything is a choice in life. Your choice. Even if something happens to you, it’s your choice on how you react and respond. I get the chills just thinking about that. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!
2. You are a Badass
You are a Badass by Jen Sincero is one of my favorites too. I love her sassiness and that she gives it to you straight in this book. She tells her story of how she spent years barely getting by. But when she decided to invest in herself and put it all out there, she accomplished her dreams. And you can too! I love this because she shares that if you do the work and don’t worry what others are thinking, you can achieve your dreams as well.
3. Girl, Wash Your Face
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis is the second self-improvement book that I’ve read. I was impressed, although it pissed a few people off. I mean, the tagline is so powerful, “Stop Believin the Lies About Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be.” How can you not want to read that? Rachel is a great writer and a fantastic speaker. Definitely check this one out.
4. Girl, Stop Apologizing
Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis is an excellent sequel to the book mentioned above. If you want to read more about this one, check out my review here.
Closing Statement
I’m currently reading “Everything is Figureoutable” by Marie Forleo, and I’m pretty sure that it will be on that list as well (so far, pretty fantastic). Do you have any self-improvement books that you recommend to read? Please leave a comment and share it.
I have a whole other list of boss babes books, but I will save that for a later post.
