Several years ago the thought of navy and black would have been a faux pas. People have always said that you pair navy with brown and never with black. Well if you still believe this, I’m here to prove that theory wrong. You can combine navy and black.
Navy has always been one of my favorite shades of blue. It’s traditionally in nautical themes and uniforms. The internet says that navy received its name from the color of the uniforms in the British Navy back in the 1700’s. Since then, It’s now in Navies all around the world. Navy is a very dark color, similar to black. In fact, if you were to shop for suits, you find that they’re typically in the colors navy, gray, or black. Navy and black are both colors of sophistication and are perceived very powerful colors.
In this look, I’m wearing this black trapeze dress from Zara. This dress is a jersey blend, so it has some stretch and is comfortable to wear. I’m wearing my signature tights and booties. These boots are from Steve Madden and are by far one of my favorite purchases. They are incredibly versatile and quite comfortable to wear all day. I found this navy wool-blend coat at Zara during their after Christmas sale, which is the best time to buy pieces from Zara.
