Polka dots have always given me a very vintage vibe. When I think of this print, I think of the 40’s or 50’s style clothing. Polka dots are also something that I don’t usually gravitate towards when I’m buying clothes. However, I will on occasion like something with polka dots.
I’m usually interested in the traditional black and white or navy and white, with the occasional red. When I found this dress at Nasty Gal, I instantly fell in love. I could style it with a vintage vibe, an 80’s vibe, or a romantic vibe. I chose to style this dress with a mix of soft and hard.
This polka dot dress with the ruffles is very soft and romantic. When you pair the dress with the hat, it only adds to the romance. However, I chose to add a faux leather jacket from H&M and the white combat boots from Steve Madden, to give this look a little more of an edge.
This polka dot dress is another perfect piece for transitioning into fall. Just by adding the boots, hat, and jacket, the dress transforms into a fall outfit. In one of my previous posts “Trend Report: Fall Boots,” I highlight the trend of combat and white boots. These boots by Steve Madden are the best of both worlds. Berets are also on trend for this fall. I currently have several colors (as noted by a few of my previous posts here and here).
Although polka dots may not be for you at first, think about the creative ways you can style it before passing on it. I would love to hear how you style polka dots; please leave a comment below to share your thoughts.
