One of my favorite past times is to listen to my vintage and new records. There is something about the slightly scratchy sound that makes the music sound beautiful and from another time. Not to mention that you have to dedicate yourself to an entire album. Some of my favorite memories growing up were my sisters and myself going through and listening to my mom’s records from when she was younger (Beatles, Carole King, Heart, Steppenwolf, etc.). We would play them loudly and dance in the living room until we couldn’t dance anymore. My love for records and dancing in the living room carried over to my adult life.
Thankfully where I currently live, I have two amazing record stores, so I’m constantly going in search of records. Every time I visit a large city, I visit the record stores and usually walk out the door with armloads. I can’t wait to share my new finds with my friends or get home to listen to each of them. When I have gatherings at my house, I will play a group of records (my playlist) for the occasion. Before the party, I go through my records and determine the best selection that the guests will enjoy. I’m excited for the holiday season to break out my Christmas albums, perhaps Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday. Oh, the possibilities!
Today I’m wearing my high waisted flares by Madwell that I have been wearing a lot lately. They are easy to dress up or down and pair well with sweaters, button ups, and t-shirts (such as the one I’m wearing). I’ve been tucking in my shirts with these jeans either completely or with just a front tuck in order to emphasize the waistline of the pants. I fell in love with this t-shirt because of its vintage influence. The t-shirt’s burgundy trimming and graphic, really make this shirt stand out. I completed the look with a raspberry beret (just like Prince’s song).
