In a world that is becoming more conscious about shopping habits, resale fashion is becoming popular. Not only is it trending, but it’s now easier to access and buy quality items at affordable prices.
So, you might be wondering what exactly is resale fashion. Is it the same as thrifting or consignment? The short answer is yes! However, in the past, shopping second-hand was not something that you bragged about. Well, times have changed, and now resale items are in high demand.
When I was younger, I was no stranger to second-hand clothes, and I was all about thrift store shopping. You would go to your local thrift store and sort through racks and racks of clothes. The hope was to find at least one or two treasures that weren’t too damaged and fit just right.
In Sophia Amoruso’s book Girl Boss, she talks about when she started Nasty Gal; she would know when each thrift store would get their shipment. This is how she found those treasures. Now, you can easily access quality items online, some even at your favorite fast fashion stores (see my post on fast fashion here).

Benefits of Shopping Resale
- Affordable: You can buy quality items are lower prices.
- Unique & Stylish: There are so many stylish and trendy items that you can’t buy in the main retail stores since they’re constantly changing items for the new season.
- Environmentally Friendly: The fashion industry is a leading contributor to pollution and waste, by purchasing resale you’re creating a lower demand for the mass production of fashion.
- Feel Good: With all the good you’re doing and money that you’re saving, it makes you feel damn good.
Closing Statement
I’m a fan of resale fashion. My favorite place so far has been thredUP (not an ad). Every time I shop there, the quality and the overall experience has been fantastic. The bag that I’m feature in my photos is a Kate Spade bag that I purchased for half the price that it was selling for at the Kate Spade New York store (got to love that). The bag came in pristine condition.
There are so many reasons to buy consignment and resale fashion. If you like to shop for sales, then resale is your jam because these items are always on sale. It doesn’t get much better than that.
