When it’s sweater weather, I know it’s my favorite time of the year. I love when the air has a chill throughout the entire day. All I want to do is get comfy in a nice warm sweater. There is something about wearing this cozy top that feels so comforting and warm. Right now stores have begun stocking up on their new fall styles, which includes a significant amount of sweaters. When I’m shopping for sweaters, there are always a few key things that I look for before purchasing.
Texture
The first is texture. I check to see how the fabric feels against my skin. I will often wear a cami under sweaters, but my skin will still be exposed to the material. Most likely I will be wearing it at least 8 hours (work day), if not more. I have to ensure that I will be comfortable all day. If the sweater is scratchy or itchy, I tend to stay away.
Color
The second feature I look at is color. I will check to see if the color looks good with my skin tone. If it washes out my face, I will tend to stay away from this color. I also think about the color of sweaters that I already own in my closet. If I already have a few of the same color, then I make sure the style is different.
Fit
So if I decided that I like the texture and the color, then I move on to the fit. The fit of the sweater is necessary because it still has to be flattering. Yes, even when the sweater is oversized and chunky, how it fits your body is still important.
Sleeves
Finally, the sleeves of the sweater are essential as well. Sleeves are especially important if you are choosing the sweater based on the sleeve style (bells, long, balloon, etc.). I try to make sure that the top is still functional with the sleeve style.
So now that you all know what I look for when shopping for sweaters, it’s time to get out there and start building your fall wardrobe. I would love to hear what you look for in a sweater, so leave a comment and tell me what’s your style.
