I’ve been using the same razor for years, but ever since the Billie razor came out, I’ve wanted to give it a go. And of course, I wanted to share my thoughts with you all. But my opinion alone just wasn’t enough to get an in-depth understanding of the quality (good or bad) of this razor. So I got a group of gals to try it out as well.

Yes, this lovely group of ladies has been shaving their legs, arms, and everything else you can think of during quarantine. That is a feat all within itself, for sure. So without further ado, here’s a bit of information about each of these gals and their opinions on the Billie razor.
Meet the Ladies

Anthea (31): Software Analyst
I’m not good at words or talking about myself. But in short, I’m a dance teacher, photographer, software analyst, and straight-up hustler. I am always on the move and always looking to learn new things. Unfortunately, I would say that I’m not very good at taking time to take care of myself. I was thankful to be a part of this cuz it gave me a good reason to take care of myself. I know that shaving doesn’t really sound like “self-care,” but for me… trust me, it is haha. I think for that reason, I have a hard time saying whether or not this razor outshined others I have used. In my eyes, it did the job, I didn’t get hurt from it, and I enjoyed using it. Hopefully, the insight I can give is still helpful to some.

Kristin (31): Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
I’ve lived in California most of my life, with a short stint growing up in France (not a lot of shaving going on there!). I’m one of those who gets lazy about shaving in the winter, but I love going to the beach and wearing sundresses in the summer … this was the perfect time to try out a new razor.

Billie Razor Review
What method/device are you currently using to remove body hair?
- Rebecca M: A Venus Razor for my legs and armpits, laser hair removal in my bikini area, and an epilator for my knees and ankles.
- Alexandra: Disposable men’s razors
- Kayla: Shaving
- Rebecca L: Shaving, although I’ve unsuccessfully tried sugaring and waxing at home.
- Anthea: My husband’s Gillette Razor
- Kristin: Daisy Disposable Razors
Do you like your current method?
- Rebecca M: I’m not a fan of shaving, but my razor has always worked well. I also get razor burn bumps easily in certain areas, so I would really like to avoid that.
- Alexandra: It does the job
- Kayla: For the most part! I am really prone to razor burn and ingrown hair (even while waxing), so I try to be as gentle with my hair removal as I can.
- Rebecca L: No, I’d love something with longer-lasting results.
- Anthea: Yes, I really like the weight of the Gilette razor
- Kristin: I feel neutral about it. I would rather wax, but with the pandemic….
How often do you remove your body hair?
- Rebecca M: Daily, I’m not too fond of the feeling of hair stubble.
- Alexandra: Several times a week, typically 4x.
- Kayla: I shave 1-2 times a week.
- Rebecca L: Once every few days
- Anthea: Ummm…. Haha, not as often as my husband might like. Probably ones/twice a week for armpits and maybe one every two weeks for my legs
- Kristin: Every other day.
What is your first impression of the Billie Razor?
- Rebecca M: I thought the packaging was nice and modern, not too girlie, just nice and simple.
- Alexandra: Such a smooth shave! Love the cover for the razor head too!
- Kayla: I loved the packaging and branding, and I’d gotten their Instagram ads for quite some time. I really like that they include body-positive ads and actual body hair. The price and subscription model was another selling point for me!
- Rebecca L: It’s sleek-looking, and I love the shower magnet.
- Anthea: I thought there was ALOT of packaging. Like way too much, but it looked nice.
- Kristin: I LOVED the packaging. I actually kept it to use for other things in the future because it felt so high-quality. It made me feel like what I was receiving was top-of-the-line.
After the 1st time using the Billie Razor, what are your thoughts?
- Rebecca M: It was a bloodbath (haha). I cut my knees and ankles in several places, and the razor head kept popping off. Other than that, it was a nice and close shave.
- Alexandra: Really happy with how smooth the shave was and how silky the razor was.
- Kayla: I was pretty impressed! The razor is almost too slick, but I did notice a decrease in razor burn. It wasn’t the closest shave, but it was definitely kinder to my skin than any other razor I’d tried at Target (and I’ve tried a lot).
- Rebecca L: It’s a great razor; love that first shave with a new blade.
- Anthea: I thought it was a bit slimy. But I had to keep checking to see if it was actually doing work. But it was. It glided really well on my skin, so well, I thought it wasn’t working. I did wish it wasn’t as slimy feeling, though.
- Kristin: Very easy and comfortable to shave with.
After using the Billie Razor for a month, what are your thoughts?
- Rebecca M: I realize that I’m a pretty aggressive shaver, meaning I apply a lot of pressure when using my razor. So I eased up on the pressure, and it worked quite nicely. However, I still have to be careful around my knees and ankles.
- Alexandra: Really happy with the close shave and will definitely keep using!
- Kayla: I like Billie razors more than anything I’ve tried previously, and it’s super convenient to have new heads delivered every month for a fresh shave. They do get dull after a few uses — I’d recommend storing them outside of the shower — but again, it’s quick to change. I still don’t think the shave is the smoothest, but that’s still a tradeoff I’ll take for less irritation. I also have pretty thick hair, so it’ll never be perfect!
- Rebecca L: I like it! It’s cute, and I don’t totally dread shaving.
- Anthea: Easy to use, gets the job done. The razor did get less slimy the more I used it. Very easy to use for quick armpit shave. I didn’t really need to add cream or soap.
- Kristin: The padding around the razor teeth started bubbling the first week. I used the razor holder but not the hanger, so it could have something to do with that. Overall, I like how it feels when I shave (soft, comfortable, no worries about cutting myself) and that I have plenty more replacement heads to replace the first one.
How was the shave with the Bille Razor?
- Rebecca M: It was the smoother shave that I’ve had with a razor. I don’t shave with any cream, so it glided on my legs nicely.
- Alexandra: Great! I have yet to cut myself like I typically do with disposables, and my skin feels super smooth.
- Kayla: Overall, I enjoyed it! I used to have terrible razor burn, every time, no matter what razor/shave cream combination I tried. I still get some using Billie razors if I go too quickly, but it’s significantly less. To me, that’s the most important factor in picking my razor.
- Rebecca L: Smooth, easy to use and store
- Anthea: Honestly, it was ok. It did the job, but I do wish it was heavier. I really like the weight of the Gillette razor. I do like the way it feels after a couple of uses, though. It’s a good amount of sliminess. I did start noticing some pumps on my armpits, though. And I usually do not get those.
- Kristin: Very smooth, soft, safe.
How did the Billie Razor perform in those challenging areas (knees, ankles, bikini line)?
- Rebecca M: It didn’t do too well on my knees and ankles; I think it’s because I have a sharp bone structure. I kept getting knicks and cuts. I laser removed my bikini line, so no razor needed.
- Alexandra: The Billie moves well and easily gets a smooth close shave on my bikini line, which I love! No more missing any unwanted hairs!
- Kayla: The razor head doesn’t have a ton of flexibility, so there were some trial and error to find the best angle to use the gel bars. I didn’t notice any issues on my knees or ankles, and I haven’t had any cuts since switching! I even tried it out on my bikini line and (somewhat miraculously) had no irritation after. The razors definitely perform best when they’re fresh, and the slippery gel hasn’t worn off yet.
- Rebecca L: It was ok at these areas, although not noticeably better than any other razor I’ve tried
- Anthea: Not one accident to report on. Got the spots really well, which razor burn or cuts.
- Kristin: Great, the razor head shifts and move with curves, which makes it very easy to use.
After using the Billie Razor, will you switch back to your old method? Why?
- Rebecca M: I think I’m going to stick with it for now (maybe a few more blade replacements) because I love the smooth shave. I’m still going to use the epilator for my knees and ankles because I don’t want cuts.
- Alexandra: Never! I love how the Billie came with an easy to access sticky pad that attaches to the shower wall, and I love that the razor head comes with a cover. I have yet to cut myself using the Billie, and that is a success!
- Kayla: Nope! I’m happy with the Billie razors for now. But I’ve also looked into straight-edge/single-blade razors, and I might try that as an even more sustainable option for my super sensitive skin.
- Rebecca L: No, even though I don’t like shaving, I like the Billie razor better, and it’s less messy than trying to wax!
- Anthea: I think for my armpits, I would keep using the Billie Razor, but for shaving my legs, I like the Gillette better. I feel like I have more control over the blade.
- Kristin: Maybe? It depends on the price difference.
Closing Statement
It looked like several ladies love the Billie razor, while some were on the fence. And there you have it, real ladies trying out real products and giving their opinion. Can you relate to any of their hair removal struggles?
