The air is getting a bit colder, so it’s time to thinking about investing in a fall sweater collection. Those cozy knits are not only perfect for the upcoming chilly season but should take you into early spring.
Now before you go and buy a whole new sweater wardrobe, you should assess the sweaters that you currently have in your closet. Here’s a list of questions to determine if there are any gaps in your current collection or if you need to donate (or sell) items.
1. Did you wear the sweater last year?
When you go through your existing sweaters, the first thing to ask yourself is if you wore it last year. If the answer is yes, think about if you’ll wear it this year. If the answer is no, ask yourself why and review the upcoming questions.
2. Did the sweater fit?
Try on your sweaters. If you didn’t wear any of them because it didn’t fit your body, most likely, you wouldn’t wear it again.
3. Is the quality still holding up?
Ensure that your sweater is free from holes and pilling (those little balls that appear in areas of friction). You’ll also want to check your sweater for snags. If you find any issues, think about if it’s repairable. If it’s not able to be fixed (or you don’t want to fix it), you’ll want to donate, sell, or recycle it.
4. Does it still fit my personal style?
It’s been almost a year, so if your sweaters still fit your personal style and wardrobe color scheme, then you’re good to go. However, if you’ve drastically gone through a wardrobe change and it doesn’t quite mix with the rest of your closet, then you might want to reconsider.
After you’ve completed assessing your current fall sweaters, notice if there are any gaps or updates that are needed.
Fall Sweater Edit
Here are my current favorite sweaters that I found in my favorite retail stores. These sweaters are affordable (depending on your budget) and high quality.
Closing Statements
I recently did a fall sweater assessment and found a few gaps in my closet, but not many. There will be a few sweater purchases; however, I have a pretty solid collection from last year. Let me know what kind of sweaters that you love this fall season.
