The future seemed so clear at the beginning of 2020, but as we entered a worldwide pandemic, that future has either shifted or become foggy. So much has happened in 2020, it’s hard to imagine what life was like before the new year.
I’m sure that you’ve all noticed that I haven’t posted in about 2-3 months (yikes, I know). The pandemic hit me pretty hard with extreme burnout and anxiety, but it also allowed me to figure out what I want to do with this platform.
Before diving into the future, I want to share some of the posts from this past year. These posts have been more collaborative and have resonated with you all.
Natural Deodorant; Do They Really Work?
This post was a collaborative post on how 4 everyday women switch to natural deodorant to see if they would prefer natural vs. chemical products. This post is one of my top 10 highest-ranking posts this year. The reason why I think it stands out so much is that you get to hear multiple opinions from multiple women.
Life Advice: Divorce & Friendship
This post is very near and dear to my heart. It’s such a beautiful story that two people were brave enough to share their experience with divorce. Again, this is one of remstyle’s top posts from this year. This story is too remarkable not to share because people can relate to it, but it was one that I couldn’t tell myself.
5 Easy-Care Plants
This post was also a fun post. Not only did it support a young entrepreneur, but it seemed to resonate with a lot of you as well. I know I can barely keep a house plant alive, so no judgment.
The Future
My goal (mission) is to create a guide for the everyday human who wants to empower themself to live a healthy and fulfilling life by looking and feeling good without judgment or negativity. We will offer sustainable ways to create positive lifestyle choices with food, fashion, relationships, and career. We want to be inclusive of all races, gender, sexual orientation, and body types.
What does this mean? Well, several things. For starters, we will be going through a rebranding. Yes, that’s right, a name and brand change. I’ve been thinking for more than a year now, and we’ve been outgrowing it.
To accomplish these new goals, this publication will become more collaborative and give the opinion of others. I’m still going to run the joint, and you’ll be seeing me a lot, but I want to share other people’s stories and offer different perspectives on life. You’ll be seeing some new faces sprinkled in here and there.
Now, don’t get me wrong. We have some significant traffic on my fashion and beauty posts as well, so those will be sticking around. However, they might be a little different in the future.
For fashion, we will start focusing on re-wearing, reusing, and sustainability. Now, shopping will continue, but it will be much less frequent and more intentional.
In beauty, these will continue being collaborative. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa. I will be sharing my opinions and favorite products, but also I’m hoping to get ideas from others as well.
For lifestyle, there will be a greater focus in this area. Not only will we be collaborative, but we’ll focus on things that will help you in everyday life. Categories will include budgeting, food, relationships, etc. Overall, we’ll become more of a lifestyle publication than a fashion.
Let me know what you think of the new direction. I’m always interested in your thoughts and opinions. Feel free to leave a comment below.
