I’m excited to start my gift guides this year, especially when it’s about whiskey. My taste for this delicious golden brown drink has only begun to refine through the past couple of years. I love a good whiskey in a glass with a cube of ice. So if you have a lover (wink) or whiskey lover in your life, here are some great gift options.
Before we start, a bottle of whiskey is always a good gift. However, if you’re going to buy a bottle, you should know what type of whiskey that the gift receiver prefers. The most popular is Scotch, Bourbon, Irish, and Rye. The different types of whiskey is determined by where it’s made, the ingredients, and the barreling process. If you find yourself in the aisle of Bevmo, then you might be lost if you don’t do your research prior.
The Decanter
Nothing looks more sophisticated than a whiskey decanter (kind of like in those old movies). If your whiskey lover doesn’t have one of these, then it’s a must-have for them. Decanters are especially significant when the alcohol bottle doesn’t look as attractive and match the decor.
Glassware
Now you can’t have whiskey without a glass specifically made for this beverage. Similar to wine, this alcohol has it’s own type of glass. There are so many unique styles available as well. You’re bound to find one that is perfect.
Stones
Whiskey stones are used instead of ice cubes in order to not water down the beverage. These are stored in the freezer and are reusable (bonus). Again, with the popularity of whiskey over the past few years there are so many fantastic options to choose.
Cool Cubes
If stones aren’t your jam, then ice cubes will help keep that drink cool. However, you can’t just use any ice cubes. Any classy (or not classy) person should be using specialized ice cubes. Being the Star Wars lover that I am, I have the Death Star cubes (of course right). However, my favorite cubes are the large squares.
Other Fun Stuff
If your receiver has all of the above, then there are some other fun items to get them as well. Anything from a cool bar cart (a little on the pricey side) or bar books to assist them with creating Old Fashions or Manhattans.
I might have to add some of these items to my wishlist. Each of these items is the perfect accessories for that bar cart in the corner of your place. Cheers!
