If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you will know that I recently went to Las Vegas. Honestly, one of my favorite long weekend destinations is Vegas. And surprisingly, it’s not just to party and gamble.
There will be another post all about the fun things to do in Vegas, but that is not this post. This post is about what to wear (or to pack) for Sin City.
Guidelines for Dressing in Vegas
There are no rules for what to wear in Las Vegas. Seriously. You can wear whatever you want, whenever you want. However, I have come up with a few guidelines that I like to follow. So before I get into what to wear, let’s review these guidelines.
1. Do not wear strappy shoes
Do NOT wear strappy shoes. I know it looks good, but your feet will hate you by the end of the night. The weather is usually hot in Nevada (I’m talking over 100 degrees). Hot weather means your feet are going to swell and get sweaty (gross but true). If you’re wearing strappy shoes, they will dig right into your feet, and you’ll end up with blisters.
2. Do not break in new shoes
For the same reason you don’t want to wear strappy shoes, you also don’t want to wear shoes that you haven’t broken in. Since you’re usually walking so much between casinos and resorts, you spend a lot of time on your feet. You always want to break in your shoes weeks before going on your Vegas trip.
3. Bring loose-fitting clothes
I know you want to look sexy in Vegas and you will. The loose clothes are for the end of the trip. I usually start off pretty slim, but after the end of the trip with all the delicious food and drinks, and the heat, I’m always pretty bloated. Hence the loose-fitting clothes.
Packing List
I’ve put together a little packing list to help you figure out what to wear. At minimum, at least pack these items. I’m not including toiletries and undies, however, make sure you pack those items as well.
1. Day Wear
- 1-2 sundresses
- A pair of shorts or a skirt
- 1-2 tank tops
- A pair of cute shoes (easy for walking)
2. Swimwear
- 2-3 bikinis and/or swimsuits
- Swim cover
- Pool shoes (ex. sandals, wedges)
3. Evening Wear
- 1 casual night time dress (my go-to is a black bodycon)
- 1-2 evening dress
- 1 pair of evening shoes (remember the guidelines)
Closing Statement
Hopefully, that helps you all get ready for Vegas. Well, at least for your outfits. Any additional advice would be to make sure you stay hydrated and make good choices.
