If there’s one thing that I’ve wanted for the past few years, it’s whiter teeth. Especially with bold lips being one of the hottest trends. Nothing calls attention to your mouth (and the color of your teeth) like bright red lipstick. So when Smile Brilliant approached me with doing a review for their product, I naturally jumped at the chance.

So, let me tell you a little backstory on why I wanted whiter teeth. First, I’m am an avid tea drinker. Now, this wouldn’t be an issue with green or white tea, but I love black tea. This type of tea is used for dyeing fabrics, so you can imagine what it does to your teeth (especially when you drink 3-5 cups a day).

The second reason, red wine. Now, you all know that I love my red wine. Apparently, the tannins in wine, attach to your teeth creating stains. Have you ever spilled red wine before? Then you know what it’s like getting that stain out. So over time and several glasses of wine later, voila, stained teeth.

Now as you might have guessed, I’m not giving up red wine or black tea (are you kidding!). So my only option at this point is either teeth whitening products that I can do at home or a really expensive dentist bill. I choose the at home product, obvi. Fast forward to now, and here’s my experience with the Smile Brilliant product.

The Kit

When I first received my Smile Brilliant teeth whitening kit, my first thought was “I have to make the molds myself?” Honestly, it wasn’t as intimidating as it looked and the directions were easy to follow. After you get done imprinting your teeth, you just put the molds into an envelope and send it back to Smile Brilliant to make your customized whitening trays.

The Whitening

When you get your trays back, you’re ready to start the process. There are two kinds of syringes one is for the whitening, and the other is for desensitizing. Now, I’ve used other whitening products in the past that have caused some severe tooth sensitivity (sheesh, what we won’t do for beauty). After using Smile Brilliant, I can honestly say that I had little to no teeth sensitivity.

The overall process is extremely easy and straightforward. You put the whitening gel on the tray, pop the tray in your mouth, wait an hour, and you’re on your way to brighter teeth. During the week, I would do the whitening process at night since you can’t eat for about 30 minutes when your hour is over. However, since I have an active social life on the weekends, I found that it was easier to whiten in the mornings.

The Result

Can you believe it, this really works. I noticed a difference within the first couple of weeks. My mouth is pretty small, so the whitening gel lasted longer with me than anticipated, but that just meant whiter teeth. I can now wear my bold red lips without being self-conscious about the color of my teeth. I confidently say that I plan on getting refills to keep that bright smile.
