I almost prefer to shop online rather than in the store. I know, but hear me out. There are several benefits to shopping online. The first is obvious; I can drink wine and wear my jammies while shopping. Duh! Who doesn’t want that?
So drunkin shopping, definitely a plus. What else? Well, you get to find wardrobe pieces (as well as other items) that aren’t readily available in your area. Now, I don’t live in a metropolitan city, so it makes sense for me to shop online. However, even if you live somewhere like LA or San Francisco, there’s a lot of amazing shopping that you won’t be able to access. For example, stores like Asos or Amazon either don’t have a location or aren’t located in the US. Plus, who wants to deal with all of that traffic.
There are a couple of other reasons, such as access to discount codes and sales. There’s also a more extensive variety of inventory online. It seems like most people are scared to shop online. This fear may be for a couple of reasons. The first being that they can’t try the clothes on. The second being, if those clothes don’t work out the return process could be complicated.
Oh yes, I have a rebuttal to both of those fears. Let’s start with not being able to try on clothes. My recommendation is always to read the reviews for the items that you’re purchasing (obviously if a review is available). These will usually let you know how the product worked and if it was true to size or if you should size up or down. If you’re ordering from a familiar place, get the size you generally buy.
Now to address the send issues. Always, and I mean always, read the return policy before purchasing. Most popular stores will have free returns, which means you repackage the merchandise and drop it off at UPS or USPS. If you have a store location where you live, you can generally return in-store as well.
So, to help you out, I wanted to share some of my favorite stores to shop online.
Asos
Not only does Asos have a great branded line, but they carry several other well-known brands. A large variety of cute pieces all in one place. I also pay $20 a year for the free two-day shipping (there’s nothing better than that). If that hasn’t sold you, the return policy is amazing. They give you a resealable package and a return slip.
Amazon
There’s nothing that you can’t find at Amazon. I swear they have it all. I’m excited about Amazon’s recent focus on fashion. I’ve bought several cute pieces at great prices. I also have a prime subscription, which is the only way to go with Amazon. Be sure to check out my Amazon Shop.
Express
As I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I never buy Express at full price. I’m always in the “know” about sales going on at Express. However, sales generally mean that merchandise sells out quickly (both in-store and online). So to get access quicker, I hop on my handy Express app and browse through the items.
H&M
Although we have a store locally, I find that the H&M stores are usually too compacted with merchandise. I’m not a shopper who likes to dig through bins and racks. When shopping online, I get a fantastic view of the items individually. They also have a cute home store online with inexpensive yet stylish options.
I would love to hear from each of you. Why do you like or dislike shopping online? If you like shopping online, what are some of your favorites stores and shopping tips? Please leave a comment and let me know.
